By switching our technology for the viflow WebModel, the behavior of Visio hyperlinks has changed.
A Visio hyperlink can be added on a process graphic with a right click on a graphic element (image or Visio object) and select „ Hyperlink".
Basically it is possible to provide an image or Visio element with a hyperlink.
But depending on the browser and type of the link, functionality is not guaranteed in some cases.
HTTP-link:
HTTP-links can be added to every element on the process graphic. Only when the user opens the WebModel with the Internet Explorer it is not possible to click on links which have been added to pictures (JPG, GIF, etc.) Firefox, Chrome and other Browsers can open all http links without any problems
The workaround for the Internet Explorer is to group the picture with a simple Visio element.
Select picture and Visio shape and group them together. After that the hyperlink can be added to the new grouped element.
UNC-link:
UNC-links are not useable in the WebModel. All browsers are blocking these links because of security settings when you try to link to a local file or network drive.
To avoid this problem you have to add file:// at the beginning of your link.
For example: file://D:\documents\example.pdf
